Something Shabby.

Today I want to show you something shabby.

Inspired by this week's challenge theme over at Crafts and Me (I won a fabulous prize last week!), I decided to make a card using some typically shabby elements.

I love shabby chic style, especially when it's about roses, pale pinks and greens, distressed furniture and romantic details.

With the help of an adorable stamp from Lawn Fawn - Sew Lovely, I made this card:

I used a paper doily, a satin and a crocheted ribbon, some buttons, some fabrics and an organza rose: everything shabby!

The dress form is stamped with black ink and the dress is made with paper piecing.

I must admit that color combos that are given over at Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge are always quite challenging for me.

This fortnight it makes no exception:

Orange, turquoise, green and dark grey... well, a bit out of my color schemes!

But I'm stubborn and I like to try something different so I decided I had to try and finally I made this:

I inked my Surfing Oliver stamp which I won from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps a while ago, cut it and assembled it on a turquoise card.

Turquoise being the main color of the cardstock, I colored Oliver with the other three colors (even if

the swimsuit looks a bit lighter in the picture than on the paper) with my Copics.

It's a clean and simple boy-ish card which makes me think of beaches and summer!

Christmas 2013 - Card # 11

A bit late on my schedule but here's another card for next Christmas:

I followed the theme at ABC Christmas Challenge: J is for Jingle Bells. An easy one but I was not in the mood to think about Christmas (and winter).
In less than one month we should be in summer but we are still waiting for spring! We had warm and sunshine for just a few days, for the rest rain and cold...

Anyway, I chose this pretty snowman with bells from Bugaboo Stamps and mounted it on a card I found in a magazine lots of year ago, added snowflakes and rhinestones and, of course, a touch of glitter.
My daughter made me notice that his arms should have been colored brown since snowmen have branches for arms but I liked the all-white look and left them white.

Inspiration Saturdays: Wedding Guestbook

HAPPY SATURDAY!

Sometimes I get bored making cards and I need to create something different with my stamps.

In these last years I've discovered the beauty and versatility of stamps and I've challenged myself to use them in unusual ways.

I've decided to start a new weekly feature here on my blog showing some of my creations using digi or rubber stamps in a "different" way.

A while ago I attended a wedding and I was asked to leave a message for the newlyweds on a little book. What a great idea!

Once at home, I thought I should do something with a new digi stamp I had just received from Broken Box Stock.

I gathered a couple of notebooks:

Printed my digis in two different sizes: 

This stamp is Simple Bride and Groom by Broken Box Stock (available here in black & white and here in a lovely colored version).

Reached for a simple and elegant cardstock, a ribbon and some little details matching the bride's dress and here's my Wedding Guestbook:

My original idea was to make a smaller version of the Guestbook but I noticed that the little notebook had lined pages inside which were not good for this use but I'll make one as soon as I find the perfect pad!

Well, I hope you are inspired to use your stamps in a different way!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESSICA!!

A while ago I was contacted by one of There She Goes DT member asking if I'd like to join the surprise party for Jessica Knutsen's birthday and, being a fan of There She Goes clear stamps I immediately accepted and made this card:

I've used a stamp from the Blossom by Blossom set, colored it with Copic markers and mounted it on an aperture card with a dotted paper behind. I think that these girls are very cute!

I'm so thrilled about this surprise party! I hope she'll be happy!!

Fun in the Sun.

These last few days have been so warm and sunny it seemed to be in full summer!

But just to remind us we are not, this morning is heavy rain again...

Inspired by the sun, I've recently made this card:

Although I'm definitely NOT a camping person, I love this Campfire Toodle (available as digi stamp here and in a color version here) from Broken Box Stock: she is so pretty with her hat and bows in the hair!

I think she's really having fun!

You can find it in Broken Box Stock shop for just $1 and it's perfect to make cards and projects for this summer! Make a tiny card and hide it in your kids' backpack when they leave for the camp or print a bigger version and let your children color it. Then hang it on your fridge and make a countdown to their camping adventure!

There are plenty of different uses for digi stamps, not onlly cards! I'm planning a few posts to show you something different so stay tuned!

Fresh as a Lemonade.

This week the theme at Sparkle Creations is LEMONADE and this is the photo to be inspired by:

and this is my card:

She is Cruisin' Chloe from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps, a stamp I won a while ago which I hadn't inked it.

I chose an old patterned paper (sorry, no brand or name on it) with fresh colors and an orange ribbon.

I love the way she drives with wind in her hair! Spring is still a bit uncertain here, we have warm sunny days but suddenly they become dark and rain appears!

I hope for a sunnier and warmer summer!

Christmas 2013 - Card # 10

I'm so happy to share my latest Christmas card, I love it!

But first, here's the inspiration from the ABC Christmas Challenge:

This is the photo to be inspired by for the creation of our Christmas projects. I was a bit overwhelmed from the quantity of inspiring things I see there: color combos, Christmas ornaments, baubles... and I finally chose the wreath itself and made this card:

I've had this stamp from DoCrafts Tulip for a while and I though it was time to ink it.

I colored the image following some of the colors in the picture which came together with the stamp.

Then, once I opened my "Christmas supplies box" and took the first paper pad in the pile I decided there was the perfect paper for this card.

The bell paper (and the gingham one too) are from the adorable Make It Merry pad from October Afternoon and the blue-green of snowflakes matched a card I had in my stash perfectly.

It's always a pleasure when a card comes together in such an easy way!

Now that I notice, there's also a wreath in the picture above with similar colors... These colors could become my favourite for next Christmas!

I should have done more than one copy...!

Yellow...again!

It seems yellow attracts me in this period... maybe I need a little more sun?

I've just finished this card:

I needed a few Father's Day cards for my shop and I made this one using simple pale yellow papers and a lovely digi stamp from Meljen's Designs: I resized one giraffe and rotate it so that son and dad could see each other. Being a card for men, I didn't want to use too many embellishments or glitter. I love its simplicity!

Yellow.

I know, I know, I've been a lazy blogger recently and a lazy crafter too!

I'm trying to update a little box with some painting and découpage but it seems I'm not good at it because the first attempt was a disaster...

I don't have Mod Podge and I've tried with another glue I bought years ago which should be specific for découpage but it hasn't worked well so far.

Yesterday, frustrated from my failure, I decided to put glue and paper on one side of the table and make the card for this fortnight challenge at Sparkle Creations.

The theme is this sketch:

I loved it at first sight and it took only a little time to make this card:

I used Cupcake Ruby from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps and decided to color her dress in an unusual yellow.

Then, it was easy to choose a plain yellow card and a lovely paper with roses and a lighter yellow background.

Then I added a little yellow flower with baker's twine tied in it and a sweet message.

I really love how it's turned out, so fresh and so spring-y!
