Inspiration Saturdays: Baby Shower Tags

I've recently finished party decorations for a sweet little girl's birthday and was inspired to make something similar to one of the things I created for her:

Cupcake toppers for a Baby Shower!

Let's start from the beginning...

I first chose my cardstock, printed a page of It's a boy! and It's a Girl messages and a page of tiny little baby carriages from Broken Box Stock (you will find the black & white here available as a freebie and a lovely colored trio of baby carriages here):

I then punched my cardstock scalloped circles, my circles with messages and carefylly cut each carriage which I previously colored with Copic markers and some glitter:

Et voilà! With the help of glue and 3D dots I had a bunch of little decorations that can be used as tags, that can be glued to a lollipop stick and turned into cupcake toppers or can be used on cards or party favours!

I'm sorry I don't have any new baby coming... I could have used some!

Do You Love Quilting?

Many years ago I decided to take classes to learn quilting.

One year back in elementary school, we had to sew a patchwork cushion cover and... well... I was not good at putting it together so one of the teachers finished it for me.

I should have learnt the lesson back then... I'm not good at working with needle and thread and fabric.

But no, years later I wanted to make a quilted patchwork throw and I decided to have lessons.

Of course, I was a real disaster. I made a few basic patchwork squares but I didn't get any further.

I also had a small sewing machine but I managed to break it quite quickly...

I'm a real good cross-stitcher but sewing is not for me.

When I saw this stamp at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps I immediately loved it. She is called Lavender the Quilter and I'm afraid she's discontinued now.

My original idea was to make a vintage card but, while looking for papers, I found this bright paper from Doodlebug and colored my stamps accordingly.

I've used an easel card so that Lavender could really pop-up when the card is opened:

Elegance.

Isn't he elegant?

I've had this Kraftin' Kimmie stamp for ages (I guess it's been retired...) but I never made a card with it, although it was one of the first images I colored with Copics markers.

I wanted a very clean and sobre card, suitable for a man's birthday, so I chose a card from DCWV and just added a matching organza ribbon with little hearts and two pink pearls matching the cup.

I want to enter a contest over at Kraftin' Kimmie Blog with this card, so I keep my fingers crossed!!!

Great News!

Just a quick post today to share some great news!

I've been chosen as one of the six new members at Christmas Card Challenges!!!

I'm very excited and honored!

As you know, I love Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps (Sparkle is the owner) and I've wanted to be part of a DT dedicated to Christmas cards for a while so everything is just perfect!

Christmas 2013 - Cards # 12 & 13

Yes... you will probably think I'm a bit boring to show you projects with the same image but... I LOVE HER!!!!!

I had actually planned another image for this card but I was not convinced at all it could work (in fact I'm absolutely late for Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge # 106 this week). When I saw the challenge theme at ABC Christmas Challenge - Less is More - I decided to use my favourite stamp, Poinsettia Charlotte and the card came out so easily!

Well, let's start from the beginning...

This is the challenge them for Sparkle Creations Challenge # 106, a sketch:

And I made this card:

I had to use one of my favourite Christmas papers from the Make It Merry Collection (October Afternoon)... it's always so difficult to use pretty papers... I'm afraid they finish!!!

But the card came out so easily that it was worth the risk!

I simply added matching a light blue card, paper and ribbon and some red details.

Red and light blue give me a sense of freshness and cleanness!

Inspiration Saturdays: Take Note!

Last year, I found some lovely tall notebooks in a shop: they had a sturdy cardstock cover on the back, a soft cover on the front, lined pages inside and they were sold at a very reasonable price: perfect to be decorated!

I bought some and, every time I went to that shop, I bought a few more...

I've already decorated lots of them with different images and themes and today I want to show you my latest creation.

I collected some paper and matching cardstock scraps, a few rhinestones, a satin ribbon, tied a bow and printed my image and made this:

This time I chose a colored digi, Wine Toodle from Broken Box Stock: her colors inspired me the color palette for the notebook so I decided that she was just perfect! I added only some red glitter here and there to make her sparkle!

(She is available here in the colored version and here as a black and white digi stamp).

I love when I can embellish something useful as a notebook and make something so pretty!

For the Boys.

I once saw a Christmas card made with a funny fish and I immediately headed to The Alley Way Stamps and bought the set.

It is called Castaways and has lots of lovely images and, with my favourite one, I made this:

Isn't it super cute?

I had these tags from Ikea so I simply stamped the fish, colored it with my Copic markers, added a ric rac ribbon, a punched heart and a sweet message.

I made lots of them... it was such a fun!

Inspiration Saturdays: For the Love of Plaques

When painting was my first crafting activity I made lots of plaques: little signs to be hung on doors and walls with whimsical animals and people.

I loved these little cuties and every now and then, I try to make something similar using papers and stamps.

With summer approaching, I thought that an "On Vacation" sign could be useful to be hung out of a shop or wherever there's someone lucky enough to go on holiday!

I gathered a few supplies: a cardboard plaque, a patterned paper, an image and a sign and I made this:

This sweet digi stamp is one of the latest creations from Broken Box Stock: she is called Ice Cream Toodle and she is available here in a colored version and here as a digi stamp.

I used my Copic markers and some glitter and glued her on a dotted paper by Pink Petticoat. A ribbon, some pearls and the heart decorate the plaque.

I'd like to hang it out of my kitchen to inform everybody I'm on vacation and won't cook for a while...

Another easy way to use your stamps in a different way!

K is for Kept Safe

A super-quick post today to show you what I created for the ABC Christmas Challenge.

The theme is K is for Kept Safe: use something you have tucked away to keep safe.

I bought this pretty notebook in Milan a while ago while visiting my sister. I love the color, the size, the dots, the elastic band... everything!

And, as I usually do when I love something, I tuck it away because I want to keep it forever!

Inspired by the challenge, last week I made this:

You know how I love Poinsettia Charlotte rubber stamp from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps! She's so elegant! And she's perfect for this notebook!

My favourite embellishments are pearls: I love to put these little details in the corners of my cards or near the image!

Luckily enough, I've just spent a few days at my sister's and I managed to find more notebooks so I was rewarded of being able to use a precious thing tucked away!
And I also managed to find my favourite pearls which were no more available: I bought 10 packets with 80 pearls each... 800 pearls! Do you think I'll have enough for the next 10 years?

Inspiration Saturdays: Quick & Easy Tags

HAPPY SATURDAY!

Here I am ready to inspire you with something quick and easy.

We all need some tags on hand to add a special message to a gift or bunch of flowers and today I'll show you how to make them in a very quick way.

Colored digis are particularly useful to make quick projects. 

I'm not a fan of pre-colored digis because I like to color and I think it is the best part of my creative moments, but sometimes I must admit they are very useful.

First, when you are in a hurry.

Second, when you print small images.

Today, I've decided to make some pretty tags. 

First, I copied the tag shapes on a white embossed paper and cut them:

 I inked the edges with a color matching my colored digi:

I printed my digis on a piece of cardstock and cut them:

I finally made some halos using some gold wire and a pencil:

I then gathered all my supplies in pretty containers, I added rhinestones, ribbons and sentiments:

And that's how they turned out:

Aren't they cute? And super quick!

In half an hour you can make a batch of them and have them ready every time you need to add a special touch to a thank you gift or bunch of flowers or cookies or...
