Challenge # 31 at Christmas Card Challenges

What a fun challenge this week at Christmas Card Challenges: PAPER PIECING!

It's an easy technique that I often forget to use, so I was happy to make a card using one of my pretty patterned papers!

This sweet girl is from Stampavie and I chose her for her dress and night cap were big enough to be cut from patterned paper.

I found two pieces of a pink paper with holly on it (I think it was from Papermania) and a small yellow piece which I used for the moon. Although coloring is my favorite part of a project, it was lovely to add only a few colors here and there!

I then chose a lilac card and added glittered and patterned papers found in UK magazines over the years.

Inspiration Saturdays: Have Fun with Signs

My project this week was created for fun!

I don't have dogs but when I saw this digi stamp from Broken Box Stock an idea came to my mind.

It took a while for me to be convinced that a piece of the paper I found perfect for what I had in mind could be sacrified...

It's a paper from Bella Blvd which I carefully cut and glued to this heart-shaped chipboard plaque to make this:

She is Dog Walker Toodle (available here as digi stamp and here colored). I used my Copics and some 3D dots to glue her in place. A few rhinestones and a bright ribbon to hang the sign and voilà!
It took me more to decide to cut the paper than to assemble the whole sign!

For once in my life I'd love to have a dog to walk to be able to hang this sign on my wall!

Summer.

June 24. It's finally summer!

School is over, ballet recitals have been performed successfully, English Summer Camp is over... We can now enjoy more relaxed hours at home and don't have to rush here and there.

But not today.

Today, my daughter and I are busy cleaning her room. Yesterday, we took everything out of her room and today while I clean windows, wardrobes etc... she will sort out her thousands of boxes, toys and books.

While moving boxes, she decided to let a Barbie doll go to her cousin. Not much, considering that she doesn't like playing with Barbie dolls, but at least something has gone.

Hopefully, by tonight we will have a pile of things to say bye-bye to!

Before waking up my daughter, I'd like to show you a card which speaks of summer:

The stamp is from the Don & Daisy line from Marianne Designs which I mounted on a dotted card from Dovercrafts and a patterned paper from Three Bugs in a Rug.

I live in a big town and, although there's lots of green and trees, I dream about the country, where you can bike to do some shopping, where you can see hills and little houses, fruit tress and animals...

Well... it's time to enter some challenges and go wake up my daughter... time for lots of dust!

Christmas Card Challenge # 30 (Christmas 2013 - Card # 14)

I'm so excited to be here for my first Christmas Card Challenge as a DT member!

This week the theme is an Inspiration Photo, this one:

How lovely and inspiring is this door?

I definitely needed inspiration this week because, after a wet and cold spring, we've reached the 40°C in a couple of days and it's not the most suitable weather to make Christmas card.

Luckily enough, I love when it's so hot and I don't suffer from it but I must admit that my studio is very very hot, especially when I don't manage to keep the window open because it's so windy everything flies away!

Anyway, as soon as I saw the picture I thought about a digi stamp I've had for a while and made this card:

The digi is from Deidre's Store on Etsy (it seems not to be available at the moment) and I colored it with Copics trying to follow the photo as much as possible.

Another Card for the Kraftin' Kimmie Guest Contest

I don't know how but yesterday I managed to finish another card to enter the Kraftin' Kimmie Guest Contest.

I had been working on it for a few days, adding details here and there without being able to put them all together. Finally, I decided that my Saturday chores could be postponed for at least 30 minutes and I finished it.

She is Diana from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps which I mounted on a big square card by Dovecraft. I added a flower border cut from an old Heidi Grace patterned cardstock. The two striped pieces of paper are the back of the Heidi Grace cardstock.

There's also the version for baby boys but I still have to finish it.

After a few years, I finally managed to put my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps into good use! I have two more, hope to use them soon!

I've recently finished party decorations for a sweet little girl's birthday and was inspired to make something similar to one of the things I created for her:

Cupcake toppers for a Baby Shower!

Let's start from the beginning...

I first chose my cardstock, printed a page of It's a boy! and It's a Girl messages and a page of tiny little baby carriages from Broken Box Stock (you will find the black & white here available as a freebie and a lovely colored trio of baby carriages here):

I then punched my cardstock scalloped circles, my circles with messages and carefylly cut each carriage which I previously colored with Copic markers and some glitter:

Et voilà! With the help of glue and 3D dots I had a bunch of little decorations that can be used as tags, that can be glued to a lollipop stick and turned into cupcake toppers or can be used on cards or party favours!

I'm sorry I don't have any new baby coming... I could have used some!

Do You Love Quilting?

Many years ago I decided to take classes to learn quilting.

One year back in elementary school, we had to sew a patchwork cushion cover and... well... I was not good at putting it together so one of the teachers finished it for me.

I should have learnt the lesson back then... I'm not good at working with needle and thread and fabric.

But no, years later I wanted to make a quilted patchwork throw and I decided to have lessons.

Of course, I was a real disaster. I made a few basic patchwork squares but I didn't get any further.

I also had a small sewing machine but I managed to break it quite quickly...

I'm a real good cross-stitcher but sewing is not for me.

When I saw this stamp at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps I immediately loved it. She is called Lavender the Quilter and I'm afraid she's discontinued now.

My original idea was to make a vintage card but, while looking for papers, I found this bright paper from Doodlebug and colored my stamps accordingly.

This is my card:

I've used an easel card so that Lavender could really pop-up when the card is opened:

Elegance.

Isn't he elegant?

I've had this Kraftin' Kimmie stamp for ages (I guess it's been retired...) but I never made a card with it, although it was one of the first images I colored with Copics markers.

I wanted a very clean and sobre card, suitable for a man's birthday, so I chose a card from DCWV and just added a matching organza ribbon with little hearts and two pink pearls matching the cup.

I want to enter a contest over at Kraftin' Kimmie Blog with this card, so I keep my fingers crossed!!!

Great News!

Just a quick post today to share some great news!

I've been chosen as one of the six new members at Christmas Card Challenges!!!

I'm very excited and honored!

As you know, I love Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps (Sparkle is the owner) and I've wanted to be part of a DT dedicated to Christmas cards for a while so everything is just perfect!

Christmas 2013 - Cards # 12 & 13

Yes... you will probably think I'm a bit boring to show you projects with the same image but... I LOVE HER!!!!!

I had actually planned another image for this card but I was not convinced at all it could work (in fact I'm absolutely late for Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps Challenge # 106 this week). When I saw the challenge theme at ABC Christmas Challenge - Less is More - I decided to use my favourite stamp, Poinsettia Charlotte and the card came out so easily!

Well, let's start from the beginning...

This is the challenge them for Sparkle Creations Challenge # 106, a sketch:

And I made this card:

I had to use one of my favourite Christmas papers from the Make It Merry Collection (October Afternoon)... it's always so difficult to use pretty papers... I'm afraid they finish!!!

But the card came out so easily that it was worth the risk!

I simply added matching a light blue card, paper and ribbon and some red details.

Red and light blue give me a sense of freshness and cleanness!
