The Wedding Season is Fast Approaching.

Thinking about upcoming events, I realized that May is not too far and that it was a good thing to start making some new wedding cards.

 

The first is this one:

 

 

In my files she's called "the thin bride" because she's so thin and elegant but her "true" name is actually a bridesmaid: Bridesmaid Toodle from Broken Box.

I used to be in their DT and I enjoyed every minute of it. I still look through their image when I need to make a new card.

Their toodles are absolutely adorable and their brides are no exception!

 

I colored her with Copics and used two papers from DCWV as background. I then needed to add two tiny pearls as earrings!

Welcome to a new C.R.A.F.T. Challenge!

 

We have a lovely theme this week for you: Anniversary or Wedding!

 

I opted for "wedding" and made this card:

 

 

I chose this very old card base (sadly, it was the last one!) which was perfect to frame this sweet couple (AKV Our Wedding - Archway from Bugaboo Stamps).

The sign is made with a stamp from Paper Smooches.

Doves for a Wedding.

Good morning dear readers!

 

Today I'd like to show you one of my latest creations. I'd been thinking for a while to create something elegant suitable for a wedding, like Thank You tags, which could be easily added to favours.

 

A few days ago, while looking through my files, I came across a collection of images perfect for what I had in mind.

 

I created small Thank You tags:

 

 

and bigger Save the Date tags:

 

Graphics was purchased from Aimee Asher years ago and I don't think it's still available.

I decided to match the tags with a light blue cardtosck and a matching satin ribbon.

 

What do you think? Are they elegant?



A Monster Wedding.

On Sunday I attended a lovely wedding.

One of my high-school mates decided it was time to say yes and I was lucky enough to be one of her guests.

 

It was a lovely wedding, very simple yet very emotional.

The bride and groom were perfect, the sun was shining and we all really enjoyed it very, very much.

 

Yesterday, I was having a look at Your Next Stamp Challenge blog and all of a sudden I had an idea: I could turn my beloved monsters into a bride and a groom.

No, not that they remind me of my friends but the sketch was perfect for what came to my mind.

 

This is the sketch:

 

 

And this is my card:

 

They are Silly Monsters 2 from Your Next Stamp colored with just a touch of Copics for I wanted her to be white as if she was wearing a wedding dress.

I added a little bow tie to make him more elegant.

 

I always love these monsters!

Happy Anniversary!

A bit late today with my post...

 

I've a new card to show you with Eat Cake Graphics stamps, one card with perfect colors for me: pink, pink, pink and some red!

 

 

They are the sweet couple from the Main Squeeze stamp, I've already made a card with them and yes, I adore this couple!

The other card had colors more suitable to an aged couple (you can read all about it here), I had fun imagining them in their sitting room.

This time I wanted hearts, pinks and reds, a card that says LOVE!

Papers are from Doodlebug, probably my fav papers ever! And of course, I colored them with my Copic markers.

This lovely bride is Lizabeth Wedding Bliss from Lacy Sunshine: I colored her with light blues and pinks and some yellow for her hair.

I put her on a circle sentiment from The Cutting Café called Something New Old Borrowed Blue.

Summer's Here!

Well, it seems summer is finally here.

 

School is over and the weather seems to be finally settled.

Yesterday, it was my daughter's last day of elementary school: they were all very sad, tears and memories and a long afternoon spent with her, playing and trying to enjoy the start of the summer holidays and forgetting the sadness of the end of these wonderful 5 years.

 

The school is very close to our home and I'll surely be sad in September when, walking by, she won't be there in the park playing and laughing with her friends and running towards me to say hello!

 

Anyway, as I tell her, we have been blessed with great teachers, with 5 incredible years, with amazing friends that she won't miss even if they attend different secondary schools.

 

So today it's the official start of the summer holidays and, even if I still have my spring cleaning to be done, walls to paint, winter coats to put away and a great mess around, I want to celebrate summer with this card:

 

 

I used Honeymoon Toodles from Broken Box Stock (available here in black and white and here in a colored version) and colored them with Copics. I chose patterned papers in bright colors (sorry, they are old scraps and I don't remember the Company).

 

They are honeymooners but I think that the image is suitable for a beach vacation too!

Glitter.

My most affectionate readers know how much I love glitter and that it's pretty rare to see one of my cards or projects without at least a touch of glitter!

You can easily understand why I was happy when I saw the challenge theme at Sami Stamps Challenge: use glitter somewhere on your project!

I chose a digi stamp from one of their latest releases: it is called "On Your Arm" and is avavilable in Sami Stamps Shop.

This is my card:

I flipped the image because I wanted space for the sentiment on the right of the card (the magic of digi stamps!) and glittered the whole dress of the bride: she's so elegant!

The paper is an old one from Best Creations (yes, I'm trying to use my old 12"x12" papers... I'm lazy and I always reach for the more practical paper pads...). The three rhinestones were suggested by my daughter!

Sometimes I get bored making cards and I need to create something different with my stamps.

In these last years I've discovered the beauty and versatility of stamps and I've challenged myself to use them in unusual ways.

I've decided to start a new weekly feature here on my blog showing some of my creations using digi or rubber stamps in a "different" way.

A while ago I attended a wedding and I was asked to leave a message for the newlyweds on a little book. What a great idea!

Once at home, I thought I should do something with a new digi stamp I had just received from Broken Box Stock.

I gathered a couple of notebooks:

Printed my digis in two different sizes: 

This stamp is Simple Bride and Groom by Broken Box Stock (available here in black & white and here in a lovely colored version).

Reached for a simple and elegant cardstock, a ribbon and some little details matching the bride's dress and here's my Wedding Guestbook:

My original idea was to make a smaller version of the Guestbook but I noticed that the little notebook had lined pages inside which were not good for this use but I'll make one as soon as I find the perfect pad!

Today I'm for Pink!

This morning when I switched on my computer and spent some coffee time looking at Etsy listings I noticed that I was attracted by PINK.

Pink is probably my favorite color and I decided to make a Treasury list there dedicated to pink items.

This afternoon, I've managed to finish a card with a digi I colored a while ago which I did not manage to assemble into something nice for a while and the card turned out... PINK!

This digi is "Lovely Couple" from Birdie Brown on Etsy and I bought it last year as soon as I saw it in the shop.

It took a while to transform it into a card but now I'm so happy with the result! I painted the newly wed with Copics and added a touch of glitter in the roses and in the groom's hankie, then I used a DCWV background paper on a white card, a paper doily, a sheer organza ribbon and bow and a delicate pink rose. I even added a button on the groom!

They look so happy!

It Makes Me Laugh...

Sometimes I fall in love with an image: I like it so much I think about framing it so I can have a look at it every time I want.

The image I've used for my latest card was one of these.

I bought an entire set of images (it was not a great effort, they were all cute!) just because of it!

Here's the card:

Isn't this frog cute? I love it!

The digi is from Doodle Dragon Studios and I colored it with watercolor pencils and embellished both the frog and the princess with some glitter. I added rhinestones to the crown: she is a princess after all!

The paper... well, as usual it is from one of the bargains I find on the internet and I don't know the company name but as soon as I saw it in my stash I knew it was perfect for this card.

Well, this incredible hot April means I need to change not only dresses but bedlinens and duvets, pajamas and everything else and it's such a boring thing to do...

Crafty Sunday

Strange enough, I have a free Sunday.

And, of course, I'm crafting.

Custom orders shipped, mom healthy at her home, daughter ready to go to the park with her dad, I can dedicate some time to make cards and enter a few challenges.

 Actually, I'm not listening to wardrobes asking for some care after this long winter, washing machine ready to be loaded, dry laundry ready to be folded...

The first card ready to be entered in challenges this week is this one:

I found this lovely digi image at Amber Ink a while ago and I loved the engagement theme with these two simple yet adorable rabbits.

I colored them with watercolor pencils, added lots of papers from the Linen Closet Collection by DCWV, added a luxurious ribbon I found in the haberdashery near my home and two small paper roses bought at Wild Orchid Crafts.

Even if I prefer candy or pastel colors, I love the way it has turned out: elegant and simple.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge # 77

Hello!!

How was your shopping yesterday?

I did some shopping this morning... Hopefully, the gifts for the kids in our family are all at home, ready to be packed. This is a real relief, every year it's more and more difficult to find new ideas for them all but for 2010 we are done!

I told you yesterday that this week I have made some cards and one of these is for the Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge # 77 (http://www.sweetsketchwednesday.blogspot.com/) and this is the skecth to follow:

Considering how difficult is for me to purchase patterned paper, when I first saw the sketch I thought I could never do it but last week there was a craft show here in my town and I decided to invest in some scrapbook papers in order to have a better selection when I make my cards.

And here's my card:

 The sponsor was Bugaboo Stamps and I've used one of their lovely wedding stamps.

I wanted to do something a bit out of the Christmas mood and I thought that this cream and light green papers look sweet, a bit vintage and perfect for the wedding theme.

Papers are from DCWV, while the stamp has been colored with watercolor pencils as usual.

 I really love this card!

Well, better go and do some laundry!
